# Create a course

> Turn any topic into a complete, interactive course in minutes with the Vixi AI course wizard.

Vixi builds your course for you. You describe what you want to teach, answer a handful of quick questions, and the AI generates a full, interactive course — chapters, lessons, quiz questions, and a teaching avatar — that your learners play through like a game.

This page gives you the big picture. The step-by-step detail for each screen lives in [The course creation wizard](/creating/wizard).

<Note>
  The course wizard is built for a larger screen, so create your courses on a computer. If you open it on a phone, Vixi will ask you to continue on your computer.
</Note>

## Where to start

Sign in at `https://create.vixiai.co` and select **Create Course** in the sidebar. This opens the wizard on its first screen, **What's your course about?**

There is only one creation path: Vixi generates your course content with AI. You stay in control of every choice along the way — the level, tone, look, and teaching voice are all yours to pick.

## How it works at a glance

<Steps>
  <Step title="Describe your topic">
    Type what your course is about — for example, "digital marketing for small businesses." You can press **Enter** to move on, or select the arrow button.

    Optionally, attach **knowledge sources** so the AI grounds your course in your own material. From this screen you can add **LinkedIn content**, **X content**, or **Files** (PDFs). See [Add knowledge sources](/sources) for how this works.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Answer a few quick questions">
    Vixi asks who the course is for and how it should feel:

    * **What level is this course for?** — Complete beginners, Intermediate, Advanced, or Mixed levels.
    * **What kind of learning experience are you creating?** — Master a skill, Understand a topic, Build a habit or mindset, or Earn a certificate.
    * **What tone should your course have?** — Fun & playful, Professional, Motivational, or Educational & academic.

    Then the AI asks a few short follow-up questions tailored to your exact topic. These help it shape content that fits what you have in mind.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name and describe your course">
    Give your course a name and a brief description of what it covers. Both appear to learners, and you can change them later.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the look and the reward">
    Pick a **learning map** — the themed board your learners travel along as they progress. Then choose the **reward currency** learners collect as they go (for example, Pearls, Diamond, or Coins). More on this in [Learning map and rewards](/design).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set up the author and teaching avatar">
    Tell Vixi who is teaching — the author name shown on your course page. Then choose a teaching **avatar**: create a personal avatar that looks like you, or use one of the ready-made default instructor avatars. See [Avatars and voice](/avatars).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Generate your course">
    Select **Generate my course**. Vixi writes your full course in the background — this takes around a minute. You'll see a progress screen, and you're free to keep working elsewhere while it runs.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  To save time, Vixi often starts writing your course quietly in the background once it has enough of your answers — so by the time you reach **Generate my course**, much of the work is usually already done.
</Tip>

## What happens after generation

When generation finishes, Vixi saves your new course as a **private draft** automatically. Nothing is shared yet, so you can review and refine before anyone sees it.

From your courses page you can:

* Open and play through the course to see exactly what learners will experience.
* Edit the course details, lessons, and avatar.
* Publish it and share a link when you're ready.

See [Publish and share](/publishing) for how to take your course live.

<Info>
  Vixi picks a category for your new course automatically based on your topic. You can change it anytime from the course's edit screen.

## Good to know

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Do I have to add knowledge sources?">
    No. If you skip them, Vixi generates the course from your topic and answers alone. Sources are there to make the content match your own voice and material more closely. Learn more in [Add knowledge sources](/sources).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I go back and change an answer?">
    Yes. Use the **Back** button at the top of the wizard to return to any earlier step. A progress bar shows how far along you are.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What if I leave in the middle?">
    Once you select **Generate my course**, generation continues in the background even if you navigate away or refresh — you can come back to the progress while it finishes.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is there a limit to how many courses I can generate?">
    Yes, and it depends on your plan:

    * **Free** — 1 AI course generation total (lifetime).
    * **Pro** — 5 AI course generations per month.
    * **Premium** — 10 AI course generations per month.

    If you reach your plan's limit, Vixi will let you know when you try to start a new course and offer an option to upgrade. See [Plans and upgrading](/premium) for details.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I create a custom avatar that looks like me?">
    Yes — choose to create your personal avatar during setup. Creating a custom avatar is a paid feature, available on the Pro and Premium plans. On the Free plan, you can pick one of the built-in default instructor avatars instead, which is always free. See [Avatars and voice](/avatars) and [Plans and upgrading](/premium).
